"For some years now, I have been considering the idea of making a watch that our agents could sell at a different price level than our ROLEX watches, & yet one that would attain the standards of dependability for which ROLEX is famous. I have thus decided to form a separate company, with the object of making & marketing this new watch. It is called the TUDOR Watch Company." Such was the announcement made in 1946 by Hans Wilsdorf, who was already a prominent figure in Swiss watchmaking, after having founded ROLEX in 1905 (with Alfred Davis).

Though traces of TUDOR can be found as early as 1926, it was in 1952 that the company made headlines with its launching of the TUDOR Oyster Prince. The company's innovative marketing at that time (illustrated ads, tag lines, sponsorships - the works!) paved its way to recognition, acceptance & a strong following. It's notable that 30 TUDOR Oyster Prince Watches were worn by the Royal Navy in 1952 during the British scientific expedition to Greenland!

In 1969, to herald its focus in creating watches of increasing aesthetic & technological aspects, TUDOR introduced the Oysterdate.

EXTERNAL CONDITION: This watch is in *NEAR MINT condition (93-97%): Showing very light signs of wear. Very faint scratches on the case, bezel, bracelet or buckle are visible to the naked eye.

INTERNAL CONDITION: This watch is in *NEAR MINT condition (93-97%): working perfectly, keeping good time & needs nothing.
