This LONGINES is a vintage classic timepiece of elegant structure composed of a thin open case & black-coated fluted hands - very classy. This elegance is obviously why Saddam Hussein's governance chose this watch as a commemorative item for individuals who have done honorable service for the late dictator.
EXTERNAL CONDITION: This watch is in *EXCELLENT condition (88-92%): Evidence of use is visible to the unaided eye. Scratches are light, but more numerous than "near mint".
INTERNAL CONDITION: This watch is in *NEAR MINT condition (93-97%): working perfectly, keeping good time & needs nothing.

As a leading member of Iraq's Ba'athist party, Saddam Hussein modernized Iraq by using money obtained from the seizure of oil fields to provide free education, health care & improvement of infrastructure. He combined this with a repressive security apparatus to seize control of Iraq & was eventually overthrown by a US led invasion when he was seen as a threat to US interests in the region. Saddam Hussein was the fifth President of Iraq, serving in this capacity from July 16, 1979 to April 9, 2003. [Reference: Bio. True Story]

The dial has slight imperfections: The surface has scattered age spots, which appear like dust particles & discoloration (color has turned a darker shade of gold), mostly on the upper right side. These marks are visible but hardly seen in the photos, that's why I'm stating them here!
