The GRUEN Airflight Precision has unique switching or jump hour-windows that change mechanically at midnight/noon, to display 12-hour standard time or 24-hour military time. This particular Airflight is a rarer variant of the original or base model (see print advertisement to compare). This vintage piece is considered a coveted museum piece, which will definitely be a gem in any serious watch collector's collection!
GRUEN kicks the Airflight up a few notches by adding a rotating bezel & a two-tone dial with contrasting black windows.
The GRUEN Airflight was designed for pilots who need 24-hour reference for flight time. At noon, the windows switch to show a 24-hour time, at midnight the windows switch back to show 12-hour time. This feature is credited to a rotating disk underneath the main dial. The hours are displayed in alternating sphere/diamond-shaped windows.
EXTERNAL CONDITION: This watch is in *VERY GOOD condition (83-87%): The watch shows what might be considered normal wear by a careful owner who wore the watch regularly. Scratches are evident, but no nicks or dings. May have replacement parts. A sound, attractive presentation overall.
INTERNAL CONDITION: This watch is in *EXCELLENT condition (88-92%): Working perfectly, needs no repair or service.

The color of the bezel filler has become desaturated in some parts
satin white/violet dial or face in PRISTINE condition with crisp markings & a flawless surface
The dial is original however, a fresh coat of clear fixative has been applied over the surface to give it a "new" sheen. Also, some of the letters in "PRECISION" have been reapplied because they were faded when we acquired this watch.
