In 1966 director Stanley Kubrick commissioned HAMILTON to design a futuristic watch for his film “2001 – A Space Odyssey”. It was made only as a movie prop prototype due to high cost in manufacturing. Today, it can be admired at the NAWCC (National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors) Museum in Columbia, PA, U.S.A.

In 1969, HAMILTON created a special edition watch to commemorate the film & HAMILTON’s exclusive contribution to it. The commemorative watch was the “Odyssee 2001″, which carries that name on the dial itself.

Now, it’s 2010 and we’re still stuck in road traffic! Still, the HAMILTON Odyssee 2001 serves a historical reminder of what man’s wildest dreams were made of!

He bought a Girard-Perregaux Vermeil Watch from us on September 13. We shipped it out on September 17 & stored all shipping receipts as proof. He made repetitive calls at 3:00 am asking why his watch hasn’t been delivered yet. He paid for Registered Mail, not Express Mail shipping, so he ought to have been aware that it takes 3-4 weeks to deliver!

Later on, he demanded for a refund & threatened to leave negative feedback for us if we don’t. We wanted to keep our eBay feedback profile flawless, so we sent him his refund. Then, he left negative feedback for us, anyway. Fortunately, eBay removed it from our profile.

All other watches that were shipped together with his have been received by their respective buyers. I also wrote to USPS Customer Service & they have confirmed that the buyer has already received the item!

As a result, he has the watch & he has the money.

I wrote an email to the buyer informing him that I am certain that he has the watch & money. I also forwarded the USPS agent’s email confirmation as proof. I requested that he return the watch to us. After a few days, he insisted that he would send back the payment to us & he did.

So, after all the chaos, the buyer got his watch & we, the seller, got the payment. We would have gotten the same ending without much waste of time, effort & emotion if the buyer had only been more pleasant, patient & trusting.

Anyway, just so you won’t have to go through what we did. Here’s some advice:

• Always keep all shipping receipts on file!
• In case of delayed shipment, never send a refund to a buyer if he threatens you with negative feedback!
• Instead, have him open a Dispute.
• Paypal will put a temporary hold on the amount involved until the buyer confirms that he has received the item.
• If the buyer fails to confirm his receipt of the item, the seller still gets the money back after a period of time so long as a valid proof of shipment is attached to the Dispute.
• If the buyer leaves a negative while a Dispute is running, eBay will remove it from your profile because it’s counted as Feedback Abuse.

• Zodiac Astrographic SST – the giant among all Astrographics. Very rare!
• Zodiac Sea Wolf SST 3600 Bullhead – one of my favorite watches in my entire collection
• Rado NCC 303 – one of my 1st watches. It has a stylish, well-preserved dial & it’s huge. Fits me right because I’m a big guy!
• Vostok British Petroleum Edition – my best Russian watch. This watch was issued to BP during the rally games in 1960. On the dial is a logo of BP & a checkered red flag! This is one of the rarest of Vostok watches ever made!

Collectors’ reaction was understandably predictable – why buy vintage when there’s a brand new piece conveniently available (complete w/ box, papers of authenticity & warranty) at a nearby mall?

For collectors who are keen on upgrading their Diastar, buy the Rado Original today but sell your Rado Diastar when Rado launches another model.

Same goes for vintage watch dealers, now is not the time to sell your Diastars! Keep them in stock now but deal them out when Rado stops reproduction to release another variety.

Which one’s your preference? It may be named Rado Original but it’s still looks pretty much like Rado Diastar to me, just under a new name – definitely not an all new guise. The collectors’ reaction, mentioned just paragraphs ago can pretty much attest to that.

I’ve been pining for a lady Zodiac Sea Wolf for almost a year already. I was only too happy when Marco got me one & it’s a Sea Wolf "Special" to boot! It’s 100% all original Zodiac (complete marked parts) from its 17 jewel automatic movement, to its resin-top bezel, to its stylish hands. Lo & Behold!

Yes, it’s a beauty & I’m sure that even the male collectors can appreciate that!!! It’s an exact miniature copy of the mens’ Sea Wolf. It’s amazing how all of the Sea Wolf’s features have been fitted into this tiny package!

Here is a watch from my collection – Tenor-Dorly Jump Hour Watch. I see this watch as a 3-in-1 because first of all, I have never had a gold-plated watch, never had a leather watch & thirdly, never had a jump hour watch in my collection. When I got this watch I was thinking of selling it but when I realized that it could be a good addition to my collection, I decided not to. It keeps good time & has a well-preserved 17 jewels movement. The case is also well-preserved & is 40 microns gold plated. I’M VERY HAPPY WITH THIS WATCH! GREAT BUY!

The Zodiac Hermetic that came in this week was purchased by an eBay buyer in less than 24 hours! Why was it sold that quick?! For one, I priced it at an affordable $227.50 & for another, it’s not only a Zodiac Hermetic – it’s a Zodiac Hermetic Aerospace Jet Pilot Watch, & lastly, it is absolutely rare!

The Zodiac Hermetic Aerospace Jet has a set of 24 hour markers & another set of 60 minute markers. It has a manual-wind movement & an all stainless steel body.

It is a beautiful watch & I’ve only wished for it to go to a buyer who appreciates its value as a genuine watch collector would. I was never interested in keeping a Rado Captain Cook in my collection until today. I decided to keep this because of its rare features. Most Rado Captain Cooks have white and red tachymeter markings. WELL, THIS ONE I GOT WAS REALLY SPECIAL! It has black & white tachymeter markings! I have sold lots of Captain Cooks in the past so I can say that this is one of a kind & it was well-preserved, check this out!!!

Well, "ZODIAC"‘s a catchy name, add "Sea Wolf" & that’s sounds pretty scary, doesn’t it? Yes, my friends, Arthur Leigh Allen aka The ZODIAC was actually wearing a ZODIAC Sea Wolf wristwatch while he was being interrogated by the police, which he says was a Christmas gift from his Mother. Well, imagine that.

It had been reported that the first few wicked, cryptic notes he left for the police were signed as "The Killer" but after a few months, he began calling himself "The ZODIAC" (seems that inspiration took some time to properly surface in his case).

So that’s the ZODIAC Sea Wolf’s story right there! Even the movie depicted the scene where the investigators insisted on seeing The ZODIAC Killer’s watch although, it wasn’t an exact model. The one used on the movie had a date function.
